Annabelle 1st Sports Day - 23 May 2015

Sports Day... Marching ... Games ... Finish Line... Prize...

Annnabelle's first sports day was held on the 23 May 2015. The day started very well.. She is well set to school and settled into the classroom.

This day, papa and mummy needs to be volunteer. We are helping out Madam June Josephine, the principal of Tadika Santa Anna. Mr. Ivan Vincent is the MC of the day and Mrs. Ivan Vincent is the PIC on the sound and music console corner.

Beautiful weather, colourful flags, cheers, parents, students, teachers ... are geared up for this event.

As Annabelle marched into the field, we felt very proud of her. She did well... while the warm up session, a small "incident" happened. I saw Annabelle cried while another boy in the class too were crying... Oh Oh... "dominos effect?" I tried very hard to calm her down.. I was blur, not knowing the reason why she cried. Could it be she is hungry or she saw us?

The next moment after this was her event, riding the deer and start the race called "Oh...Deer..Oh ... Deer" With her sobs, tears in the eyes, she started the race and she ended it too... We were happy and proud of her. (Yes, to be honest to you; initially I was a little disappointed with this incident, but I told myself; it is okay she is still very young. A 3 years 10 months old girl.)

The day went on well. Annabelle was laughing, joining the cheers and played with her classmates. The dedicated MC and "Console Corner Woman" are working well as partner.  Wondering where is Abigail? She is well taken care by the daycare auntie and uncle at the VIP seats. :)

The sports day ended at 11.30am. Annabelle's red team received 4th place in the event. She got a prize. She is happy with it.

(Conversations in the car on the way home:
Mummy asked: "Annabelle, why did you cry?"
Annabelle answered: "Mummy, it is just an accident."
Mummy comforting her partly while lecture her and say : "Sometime, papa and mummy may not be available with you, but you are independent enough to handle it. So, be a good girl. Don't make anymore accident like that.")

Not everyone is a WINNER in the sports day, so the most important thing is the PROCESS:)

BFF

BFF = Best Friend Forever!

Do you have one when you were young?

I remember someone told me, "In different stage of our life, we have different BFF." It is true?

When I was young (before schooling age), I can't remember I had BFF or even if I have I may not remember it... hahaha...

When I went to school, I had my group of friends but I guess there are friends. I may not even know how to consider someone as best friend. :)

****************************
To Annabelle:

20/3/2015 morning, when mummy told you "OK, Annabelle; today Lavania will be leaving home and will only come again during the school holiday." You kept quiet and left the kitchen to the room, drinking your milk.

Suddenly, you walked out; both eyes are red. Tears flowing and told me:"Mummy, I gonna miss Lavania".. I comforted you, wipe your tears. You sob.

When papa came out from the bathroom, I told him, "Papa, anak you, nangis pasal Lavania is leaving home!". He called you and asked you why. You kept quiet and just cried out. You vomited too. We comforted you again.

We saw you sitting besides Lavania and watching TV then.

Annabelle, mummy took some time off from work to jot this down in this blog to remind you had a best friend when you were 4 years old.
*****************************

This incident in the morning make Ivan and I realised that children is very expressive and they can expressed themselves very well.

"But, I am gonna to miss her.."
"But, she is my best friend.."

Simple words and expressions are just touching my heart. We adult tends to be more manipulative at time that we forgotten that we can be simple.. :) Something to ponder!!!

Dinosaur ... Argghhh... RRAArghh....

 Dinosaur... Arghh.... Rrarghhh...

This is exactly what we heard lately in the house after our expedition trip to the Dinosaur Discoveria in Avenue K on the Thaipusam day (3/2/2015, Tuesday).
The journey begin...

Her collections at home
This sudden love of dinosaur started on the last year Christmas, I bought a dinosaur 3D model as Annabelle's gift. Papa who is very creative in handwork has assembled that first model for her. Annabelle then wanted another one more. Now the house has four all together. I got them at a very reasonable (in fact cheap price) but Annabelle really treasure them.

Then, we got busy with Christmas and new year and schooling. Finally last week, we said "OK, let's bring the kids for this adventures!" Annabelle is all excited and ever ready wanting to go whenever we speak about it. But bear in your mind that, I have a younger girl Abigail who is a little reserved in nature on this sort of adventures. As parents, we knew that we are putting a bet (RM25 - ticket price) for this trip. In our mind, we knew that if Abigail refused and whining to leave; I will have no choice to bring her out from the hall. Papa agreed that we give it a try.

We took a train to KLCC. Walk over to Avenue K. Up we went to the 4th floor reaching Discoveria center. Gosh, you know what I saw. the feet of the gigantic dinosaur (we are too excited partly worried that I did not have time to snap any photos).  Oh... oh... in my heart; I told myself, will the kids be okay with this...
One family photo before journey
Once entered, the sound of the Dinosaur enough to scare Abigail away and she cling onto me even harder. Annabelle hide behind the papa as she hear the dinosaur roar. Then, we were welcomed with something very special we thought. All of us put on a safari sleeveless jacket, a torch light, a map and an RFID tag. We were advised how to use it and there you go, "Go and Explore!"...

The jacket, torchlight, map

All right, the dinosaur is a model of its life-size. Annabelle followed the papa, she was quite afraid initially but she overcome the fear eventually. I remembered she said: "Papa, I want to ride on the dinosaur!" (I had told her some sneak preview what she is expecting in the expedition.)

Abigail on the other hand, turn her back; hide her head at my shoulder. We were still encouraging her along the way.
Look at Abigail

There were lots to see, fun stuff to explore (some facts even I don't know) and activities for the kids. The kids become more relax when they reach an area where we can race with with a Theropod. Annabelle ran and shout "yeah!"... Abigail turn her head and cheer for the sister. She was excited when I carried her and ran for the race. Finally, Abigail came down and walk by herself as she reach the sand pit where children (young paleontologist) discover the dinosaur fossil. Both the girls were there for a good 40 minutes while mummy resting near the "Color a Dino" stool. Where is papa? Ahha.. he went off inside the hall again to complete the discovery and get all the questions answered on the discovery map.

Discovering the fossils

She is scared but it is a waste if we don't pose with the T-Rex

Race with Dinosaur

"High... Mayasaurus"

"Mummy, this dinosaur glimpse his eyes at me..."

"Scary! Don't!"

She is so brave in the later part of the expedition,
she used her torchlight, walk around discovering dinosaur.

I want to see you in a close-up view
She said she has her dragon doll "Drakel" to protect her
Ride that she wanted to

The journey ended with a smile on our face not because our kids got a certificate as a Junior Paleontologist. We are happy that they overcome their fear and daringly completed the journey.
I am officially a Junior Paleontologist

Nice collection...

As the mission completed, whether I lost my bet to papa or not; we are so happy to be able to expose the kids to life-size dinosaur which were extinct long long time ago. Of course, we too learnt and gain so much of knowledge from this trip.

At the end of the day, when papa and mummy asked Annabelle:"Do you want to go and see dinosaur again." Her response was a big nod.
When asked Abigail, "Is the dinosaur big?" She answer loudly:"YES!." and the voice of "I am scared" is not there anymore.

It is an happy ending... :) (there is how most writer end their story..,)

Annabelle - Going to Pre-School, Abigail>?

12 Jan 2015, marked the first day of Annabelle's pre school start day. We both took leave to accompany her to school.

She has her uniform, her school shoes, her bag and also her lunch box.
Preparation for her schools,
watch for the design of the school logo ~ proudly done by Ivan Vincent

"Jesus, blessed me when I am in school"

"Both ready for school"

First day, easy going with toys and familarisation with the school teachers

See her name on the list.

Her school ~ Tadika Santa Anna

Brought back memory of me wrapping my school books.

She is so grown up.

Her school is Tadika Santa Anna, Port Klang. The school starts at 7.45am and finishes at 11.45am.

As working parents who goes to work at 6.30am, we are thankful to our daycare Taska Selektif for their assistance to get Annabelle's ready in her best conditions and the daycare's uncle (Thata) will drop and pick her to/from school on time. The routine has started and will continue as such for the next 2 years. :)

So far, her school days are "Fine" (as Annabelle described.) The first week, there are only 2 days she tears and told me over the phone that she misses us (her mummy, her papa and also her thata). Then, I have came out with reward chart to encourage her, she is doing fine and hope that she will continue it well too.

Everyday, we (especially the papa) will ask her "How's school?". Her response is "OK!" "Fun", "Fine"... not much she will described. Then, I bump into a threads online how to ask our child about their school instead of the "How's school"" questions. It does not really give me all answers but at least some.

Here, I concluded my finding about her school: (Like doing research!)

She does colouring mostly at school. She used orange colour to colour fishes and ball ( I guess).
One girl is still running out from the class (stopped by Teacher Assistant - Teacher Rita).
She can't play at the playground because the slides was wet.
She doesn't like the chicken burger that I prepared for her for her snack break. She wasn't not able to open her piece of cheese during break once. :)

Anyway, from these bits and pieces of conversation with her yesterday; she said: "Mummy, I like my school, my friends and I like to go to school." I guess Ivan and I are the most happy one who hears this.

2015 - Sunday School

Annabelle also started her Sunday School (Catechism classes) on the 4 January 2015. She is so keen and happy with the classes. She bombarded her catechism teachers with questions like "Why 3 Kings.." "How Jesus?"  "Where baby Jesus?"

She came back and asked me: "Mummy, can you tell me the 3 Kings story?" Oh yes, looks like mummy who is a convert better buck up and learn up more about the faith.

Oh yes, her catechism classroom is the same classroom as the normal weekday school; she did confused over her teacher too.

I explained to her, on weekday you will meet Teacher Manjit and Teacher Rita. On the Sunday, you will be seeing Teacher Charlote and Sister Angeline. Obviously she is still trying to get used to it.

Anyway, hope she will learn about her faith more and be a good girl too :)

Get the chance to carry Baby Jesus

How about Abigail when the sister (Jie Jie) at school?

Oh yes, she is in the daycare. She does take part in the "going school" activity. She followed thata once to fetch the sister from school.

When I asked Abigail, "Do you want to go to school?" her answer is yes with strong nodded of her head. When asked about "Where jie jie?", she will says "School"...

Nowadays, she also like to drag her small school bag around the house as if she is going to school.

Anyway, both our baby girls are growing well and at schooling age too. Hope our Lord will protect our children when they are in school or in daycare. May the schooling years for Annabelle be fun-filling and enjoyable too.
